Hello again.

It's been very quiet lately, but some of us are still here.

Today I walked past a restaurant that was playing a song where the singer kept repeating "enfin le fin de semaine!" ("it's finally the weekend!"), and that's probably the cruelest thing you could do on a Monday.

Updates / Series 1 Audiobooks
« Last post by Dawnwing on July 14, 2017, 01:38:11 PM »
A week or two ago, the official Warriors Facebook group posted that the first series is getting audiobooks, and they had 4 readers to vote from.

(I voted for #1, which I recognized as Veronica Taylor - the reader of the Omen of the Stars audiobooks, and the voice of Ash Ketchum for the first 8 seasons of Pokemon.)

The vote is now over, and the winning actor is MacLeod Andrews (#3 of the four options).    The audiobooks have a scheduled release date of 10/10/17.

I didn't know about shadowless pokemon cards until my cousin pointed some out to me while looking through my box of duplicates

now I'm going back through the box and so far I've collected almost 40 of them, plus a misprint pikachu... some of them aren't in great condition though, I wonder if they're still worth something

Random Babble / Re: Movies!
« Last post by hyperadam on July 08, 2017, 05:13:32 PM »
I'm reviving this thread again because I've been watching some movies recently.

A couple weeks ago I saw Wonder Woman and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 and I thought they were both great. I liked them both a lot more than most comic book movies.

I really liked Wonder Woman because it did a great job of avoiding a lot of the fatigue that's been setting in to a lot of superhero movies for a while. I'm going to just shamelessly repeat something from RedLetterMedia's review, but it bears repeating because its just so true: A lot of superhero movies seem to be starting to be about strong people punching each other a lot rather than ideals and heroism. Wonder Woman in this move is all about protecting humanity and actually representing these ideals and I thought the movie was so much more effective because of it.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy was already my favourite Marvel movie by a pretty wide margin, and the sequel does a really good job of living up to that. I honestly can't tell which I prefer, which is a good sign. I really liked Drax getting more screentime here too, since he was very infrequently used in the first one but whenever he was he was really funny.

I also saw Hacksaw Ridge more recently and I thought it was fantastic. It was very different from what I expected, and it significantly exceeded those expectations. I knew it was a war movie, but I wasn't expecting it to be as character focused as it was. Even taking the actual story out of the question, the war scenes themselves were incredibly well done. Probably one of the best war movies I've seen.

The boot camp scene seemed a bit odd though. I guess whenever you do a boot camp scene there are going to be some similarities, but I swear there were points where they were deliberately trying to do Full Metal Jacket. It just seemed weird, because they're very different movies so I don't feel like it fit very well here.

Also, I'm just going to say this hear since it's movie-related: It's been like a week but I still can't get over that Ridley Scott quote (language warning) that Jay read in the most recent episode of re:View. It may be one of the greatest utterances in human history.
