Been reading 'The Big Over Easy' by Jasper Fforde recently. It's part of his 'Nursery Crimes' series of comedic mysteries in which humans and fairytale/nursery rhyme characters coexist, and the basis of this one is "Who pushed Humpty Dumpty off the wall?" :')

Had a dream last night that I went to watch a knife fight (between about twenty people, one of whom had brought an axe) at an indoor swimming pool in Trefin (small village near my parents' house). For some reason there was a very large seal sitting next to me. Also, someone came round selling bowls of soup, but no one could eat the soup because it was full of tiny razorblades.

It refers to Clan MacBean of Inverness, whose chief nearly froze to death one winter until his fellow clansmen eventually managed to get a fire going.
(Disclaimer: this didn't actually happen; I just looked up a list of Scottish clans on Wikipedia and made it up. Specifically chose Clan MacBean as they have a cat as their crest design)
