Archives / Sedgecloud of ThunderClan
« on: September 01, 2016, 05:22:16 PM »
NAME: Sedgecloud
AGE: 28 moons
GENDER: Agender (they/them, unspayed)
CLAN: ThunderClan
RANK: Medicine Cat

(click for image)

Sedgecloud is a plain gray cat with short fur and an average build. They aren't very remarkable in any department, physically - they're not really lean, muscular, short, or tall. Their face is semi-wedge shaped, with a long muzzle and almond-shaped green eyes. There's a single smudge of white on their muzzle, just above their little black nose.

Their tail is of an average length, as are their black whiskers. Despite being otherwise notable, Sedgecloud does have notably small/rounded ears, though their size and shape don't really inhibit Sedgecloud's ability to hear things. Their paws are small, with little dark gray pawpads on each toe. They've got no notable scars to speak of yet.

Sedgecloud, at first glance, would say to anyone that they are hurried in an attempt to please everyone and do everything they need to do. Their social encounters with others are rushed and perhaps not so elegant, but they find themself excelling when it comes to focusing on their medicinework - though a bit of chatting while they mend wounds is always useful. That said, they also lean towards being a people-pleaser, often due to the nature of their relationships growing up - they always seek to prove themself useful and keep a smile on everyone's faces to avoid being cast out or ridiculed in any degree (whether this would happen or not). They have chronic anxiety, and as such, are prone to panic attacks when things get overwhelming; this is another reason they prefer the usually-quiet work of a medicine cat.

On that note, they are also a notable pacifist, often seeking to mend relations with words before cutting them altogether with claws and fangs. They were pretty bad at fighting, even with the minimal amount taught to medicine cats alongside their herblore training - which means they try not to get into those situations. Despite being a bit timid around other cats (especially larger ones), Sedgecloud could always be said to be open-minded and kind-hearted to whichever cats they interact with. They have more friends than enemies, or at least, they hope that's the case - and if Sedgecloud could have it their way, they'd make everyone their friend.

Sedgekit was born to Morningcloud and Poplarfur, two very young parents who weren't really expecting to have a kit together in the first place. Morningcloud was kind, though meek, unsure how to treat a child due to her inexperience. Poplarfur was distant from Sedgekit from the moment they were born, and it was often that they'd see the ginger tom sneak along the edge of camp to leave through the entrance and hunt alone. Perhaps that's how Sedgekit got it into their head that they needed to be useful... which is probably one of the reasons they started visiting the medicine cat's den. Though it was an expedition driven by feeling weak and unneeded at first, they soon came to visit the den with a different interest in mind - to learn.

It wasn't really unexpected when Sedgekit became Sedgepaw, medicine cat apprentice. Morningcloud was relieved to be free of the nursery, though she wondered if Sedgepaw would be alright on their own. Sedgepaw was mentored by a large bicolor black-and-white cat by the name of Ternstorm, bulky and large to a point of blocking the entrance to the den sometimes - though the entrance itself wasn't all that big to begin with. The new apprentice was taught the ropes, but was often left feeling like they weren't progressing fast enough for Ternstorm's liking. There was an incident where Sedgepaw lost an apprentice to a particularly nasty injury delivered by a monster that had swerved off the Thunderpath; they could only resolve to do better next time, but the feeling that they weren't trying hard enough stayed well after they'd graduated to a full-fledged medicine cat.

Their visit to the Moonstone granted them the suffix -cloud for their patience with others and generally easygoing nature. Their mentor retired and passed peacefully away a few seasons after giving the position to their apprentice; they were rather old, and they died content, knowing their knowledge was passed on. Sedgecloud still felt very much not ready to be "the" medicine cat, but at this point, they felt obligated to do their best. After all, it was all they felt they were any good at, and they wanted to be able to support their Clanmates nonviolently.

Morningcloud ; dilute tortie she-cat with green eyes and white paws.

Poplarfur ; dark ginger tom with amber eyes and white "stockings".

Ternstorm ; bicolor black-and-white cat (neutrois) with yellow eyes.

Cards of the Clans / Altias's COTC Fan-game! - WIP
« on: July 28, 2016, 09:23:42 PM »

Each cat has seven stats - strength, tracking, agility, speed, endurance, spirit, and healing.

(click to show/hide)

each cat has 5 in each stat before modification.

Each cat gets certain bonuses and subtractions from their stats depending on their allegiance.

(click to show/hide)

(click to show/hide)

Ashfur: ThunderClan warrior. 8str - 7trk - 4agi - 6sp - 6end - 5spr - 5hea

Health and turn number are determined by end and end*sp/5. Ashfur's health would be 6 and his number of turns before exhaustion would be 7 (rounding down).

Each user picks one leader, one deputy, one medicine cat, two warriors, and one apprentice, regardless of allegiance. If this group is a tribe, then they may instead pick one Stoneteller, two prey-hunters, two cave-guards, and one to-be.

Both users require a 10-20 card 'deck' of other cats in case StarClan commands it so. If you have no cats left in your deck, then one of your 'dead' cats will return from StarClan with kitten stats (-3 to everything). if three turns pass, they will become an apprentice (and have their stats modified again), and if another three pass, they will become a warrior again.

Your setup should look like this:

< warrior/ph/cg >

< to-be/apprentice >

< warrior/ph/cg > < deputy/ph/cg > < medicine cat/ph/cg >

< any other cats that join later on >

< leader/stoneteller >

Or, if properly formatted, here's an example:

The card-master formats both of your sets of cards to face each other, and on either side, their stats will be listed. Below each card will be their health and turns left.

The user with the highest turn count goes first; if there's a tie, check endurance, and if there's a tie there, the card-master will flip a coin.

On your turn, you can do the following:

- Attack (ends turn, so please be sure to do everything else you want first)

- Defend (ends turn like the above, but you will take less damage next turn)

- Heal (only available if your medicine cat is alive)

- Switch (switch your active cat with another of your clan - kits cannot be switched in.)

- Pray (ends turn, but your active cat's spirit stat will be used to roll a random event just for you!)

After both clans have their turns, a 'gathering turn' will commence, and both clans will be subject to a dice roll to see whether your clans will be blessed or cursed.

(click to show/hide)

After the gathering turn, the battle phase begins again, and the cat with the highest turn number goes first again.

The game will end when one Clan's leader is completely dead. Each leader has nine lives, but for the sake of this game, they only need to be killed three times.

The Characters / Realistic Warrior Cat Consultations!
« on: July 28, 2016, 05:00:25 PM »
Hello folks and welcome to my little thread! In here you'll mostly see me going on about cat genetics and genetic inconsistency in the books. Of course, the true purpose of this thread is to do the following:

 • Give an overview of any canon cat's genetics, and whether it's possible for the cat to be the way they are (sometimes looking into relatives)
 • Answer questions about cat genetics (i.e. 'how does tortie work' or 'aren't tortie and calico the same thing')
 • Help other folks with their original characters by offering advice on making them and their family genetically consistent
 • And so much more!

No fancy forms to fill out for the first two - but if you're looking for advice on the latter and know anything about cat genetics already, here's a form:

Code: [Select]
Designated gender at birth:
Coat color:
If yes, tabby type:
If yes, spotted?:
if yes, Ticked?:
White Spotting Amount:
Epistatic White?:
Albinism? (includes points):

Please only fill this out if you're asking about your own cats and want help with things like parentage, or your cat's phenotype, etc.

If you don't know or it probably doesn't apply, do "n/a" or "unknown".

In case you're curious about what any of these mean:

What's the difference between tortie and calico? - x

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing what yall have in mind! Apologies if this is in the wrong spot.

So hi!!! I'm making this thread bc it happened yesterday and im still happy about it

"what??" you may be asking. "wolfquest??? that one game where you could run up walls and stuff?"

"yes," i say, putting a hand on your shoulder, "and now you can do all that and more..."

so what's in this new update???

 • A NEW MAP!!!!!!!!!! it's called Lost River
 • more pelts and custom options (ear variations like notches etc, a limpy leg, or a radio collar
 • updated graphics and AI (your mate will actually do things now!)
 • slightly revamped controls (and new commands - y for whine, g for growl, r for sit/lay)
 • revamped multi experience (phrase chat only for public games, voice/only slightly filtered chat for private - no cursing but other than that it's free chat)
 • a new account system (you get 1 account key when you purchase, and you use that to create your account in-game. no forum account necessary!)
 • co-op for multiplayer ('raise pups' game mode!) that lets you do the SC quests with friends
 • wind factors into whether you can smell something or not, or whether prey will smell you first
 • fancy new gui
 • you can unlock everything for 10 bucks (AM, SC, LR, bonus pelts+acc, account, multiplayer) or just play the demo (first 5 pelts - the old ones - and AM)

here are some comparison images (2.5 vs 2.7, kinda beta screenshots!):

here's a pic i took of the 2.7 demo a few days before i bought the full game (when it came out later):

please share your thoughts!!!! and there may be Lost River spoilers in replies, fair warning for those who haven't investigated yet

Warriors Analysis / Cat Creator - text based!
« on: October 21, 2015, 06:27:15 PM »
Who needs free time, anyway??

So maybe you're like me, and you want to join a warriors-based roleplay, and you're utterly super-stumped on how to go about it. You don't want to do anything too similar to what you already have, so you're stuck. So what do you do?

Well, hopefully my generator will come into play for this!

Click the 'Create Cat!' button after specifying how many you wanna make, and it'll spit out a random cat.

This was made with noncanon Clans and no specific gender in mind - so your cat can fit flexibly into most environments, as long as the structure sticks with the canon one somewhat.

If you have any questions, concerns, or errors to report, let me know!

The appearance is supposed to be at least mostly realistic - there's a chance that your cat will have scarring, for example, but it's not a sure chance.  All cat appearances (especially the white markings!) are hopefully realistic enough for you as well.

If you want a name suggestion, also, lmk! I'd love to give out name suggestions.

Warriors Analysis / Clan Structure & Variants!!
« on: October 19, 2015, 06:22:33 PM »
So I love to think about Clan structure a lot. I also love the idea of variants in Clan structure - I feel it'd naturally occur in Clans, and it's already been shown in one of the Super Editions (the Tallstar one!).

So the topic here is the Clan structure and how it could vary! As well as how far a Clan could go from the 'template' before being a completely different thing.

So what I would agree on is that a Clan needs to have these factors:

 • Connection to StarClan (through both beliefs and a rank or more related to it, like medicine cats)
 • A code with certain rules in addition to extra rules for that Clan (see below)
 • A territory to protect (or, in the case of nomadic tribes, a few areas to protect)
 • A ranking structure (in that there's at least a leader - or group of leaders - as well as sub-ranks like warrior or medicine cat)

The necessary rules are listed as such:

Defend your Clan, even with your life.

Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.

Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors.

Prey is killed only to be eaten.

A kit must be at least six* moons old to become an apprentice.

A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.

The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.**

After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh***.

A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.

Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.

No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.

An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.

Each Clan has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side to protect the four. Each Clan must help the others so that no Clan will fall.

* - though six is the traditional number, a clan may decide to wait longer to make kits into apprentices. in the tribe system i created, kits rise in rank at eight moons.

** - a leader may be exiled by peer judgement exclusively. they may retire at the regular elder age if they live that long.

*** - in the event that the leader dies before a deputy is chosen, the medicine cat may choose. if both leader and medicine cat are dead, the oldest capable elder (or warrior, if there are no elders) must make the decision. it's usually safest to declare a new deputy as soon as possible, so a
ny time soon after a leader's de-ranking would be a good time. moon-high is just the canon due time.

This could probably be up for modification, but I feel a true Clan would have these rules at a minimum. (This keeps malicious 'clans' that don't follow any sort of rule or code out of the system, and allows fairness between clans.)

Now that we have that, we can move on to variant structures.

Some Clans may wish to split the warrior position into two - one 'warrior' rank and one 'scout' rank. scouts would probably specialize in patrols and investigating strange happenings in the territory, as well as checking for dangers in and around the camp. warriors could do more with hunting and battle than actual scouting.

Other Clans may have more than one leader, an oligarchy of sorts, as a group who makes decisions like a regular leader would.

Or, in another Clan, there may be no official 'deputy', but rather a group of elite warriors who have been alive many seasons and have a lot of experience.

There could even be (haha I almost wrote bee.... amazing...) a Clan where there are two leaders, or a Clan where a deputy has to go through a special rite (maybe akin to the first Moonstone visit, but more elaborate?) before ascending to leadership.

anyway sorry I started rambling. gimme those thoughts

Suggestions and Questions / A 'Journals' board O: ?
« on: October 08, 2015, 06:47:43 PM »
I know I suggested this in the Skype chat, but I wanted to put it here in case people wanted to weigh in here!!

I propose we have a Journals section, maybe under Advice & Life. Each user can make one 'Journal' topic and use it how they'd like - you could have the first post as a 'directory', then a few posts for things like friends lists, shops the person owns, 'Music of the Day' links for people who do those.... etc... and then the person can post a daily journal entry. I say 'daily' but mean it in a once-in-24-hours-to-prevent-spamming sense. The journal entries can be as extensive the user wants, and it can be about anything from Warriors to schoolwork to hobbies to fiction, or whatever.

I just think this'd be a fun way for the community to introduce themselves more thoroughly and talk about their lives! By posting about yourself on your journal thread, people can get a better idea of who you are, or just see what's happening at the moment. A good place for a daily check-in!

Anyway, I might have went on a bit of a tangent. Let me know what you all think!

Ww Fanfictions / Tarot's Trouble - a ww fanfic (signups open)
« on: October 02, 2015, 12:24:09 AM »

What would you do if cards predicted your fate?

The town of Wishville, divided into different cul-de-sacs, is plunged into a blackout. The cause is unknown, but the eyes of the Wishers drift to Blizz's Manor on Center Hill, on the northern edge of town. A strange dream and prophetic readings lead some Wishers to a fate they wish they could escape.

Hello! My first Ww fanfic, thanks for coming. I'm a novice writer, and want to get a bit better, and thought it'd be fun to try making a fanfic that incorporates the tarot cards I enjoy! I hope you enjoy it as well.

Suggestions and Questions / Unlock boards for guest viewing?
« on: September 11, 2015, 07:32:11 PM »
I know this was a thing you were maybe planning on before, but I think we've got enough members that it'd be safe to unlock the boards so guests can see them! That way we can get more people to look in and see whether they'd want in on the Ww Experience (tm).

Cards of the Clans / (ENDED) Fate's Whiskers - a tarot-themed art contest!
« on: September 03, 2015, 04:32:43 PM »
Fate's Whiskers
a tarot-themed art contest

This is an art contest. The goal of this contest is to design a tarot card featuring a canon cat (or a few of them). Keep in mind the symbolism in each card - for meanings, I suggest Aeclectic's guide here, if you're not quite sure what each card represents.

There are no set dimensions - you could do a pixel one if you wanted, or a larger one - as long as it's portrait-oriented (i.e. the width is less than the height of the image).

 • Art submitted must follow forum guidelines.
 • You may only submit one piece for this contest.
 • You may not trace, copy, or use another's work.
 • Multiple people can draw for the same card - if two people want to do the 6 of Swords, they can.
 • A description of your card would be appreciated - the cat featured, and why you chose that cat.
 • You don't have to use the characters in the CotC TAROT set for the Major Arcana - if you think another cat fits the card you want to draw better, feel free to use them.
 • The card can be formatted however, as long as the name of the card is somewhere (or is clearly shown - i.e. if your card was the 5 of pents, you would just need to draw five pentacles somewhere, and maybe put the number on the card on the top/bottom).
 • You can draw either a Minor or Major Arcana card! You don't need to do the Major ones if you don't want to.
 • Artwork can be digital or traditional.

An example of a properly formatted (i.e. portrait) card.

First Place:

TAROT - Firepaw (the Fool) and 300pp.

Second Place:

TAROT - Bluestar (the High Priestess) and 200pp.

Third Place:

TAROT - Cinderheart (the Empress) and 100pp.

Honorable Mention:

50pp and a mention in the final post. This place will only be added if we get enough entries - at least 7 of them, completed. (People who have signed up and haven't completed their pieces don't count.)

The deadline for the art was October 17, 2015. Judging will go on until October 24, 2015.

Suggestions and Questions / Category question!
« on: September 02, 2015, 12:41:11 AM »
I was kinda interested in doing a free, no-pay monthly pp raffle, where users post once in the thread and get assigned a number. At the end of the month, I'd use random.org to roll the number of the winner, who'd get all the pp offered. I'd probably add to the raffle's earnings if more people entered?

I'd like to do this, but I'm not quite sure where it'd go, or if there's a spot for it on the forums! Where would I put it?

Games / Get to know the community! - Game

This is kind of a way to break the ice and learn some things about your fellow Wwers!! You ask a question for the person below you to answer (preferably less silly ones, but w/e) and they do the same.

P1: What's your favorite season?

P2: Spring! Do you have any interesting hobbies?

P1: I play piano, but that's not really interesting. Do you prefer blue or black-ink pens?

I'll start!

Do you have a favorite species of bird?
