This thread is a list of all the warrior name prefixes and suffixes that have been used in the Warriors books. ^_^ The list is updated regularly as new books are released. All in all, I hope this is a helpful resource for my fellow Warriors fans who roleplay, write fanfiction, or just generally like coming up with warrior characters. :)

This list SHOULD be complete and current through TBC #1: Lost Stars, but if I've missed anything please don't hesitate to let me know, either by posting or by PMing me! Any help would be much appreciated. ^_^

There's quite a collection of new name parts in the new series, The Broken Code! So the list has been updated to include the following:

New Canon Prefixes: Bay ; Myrtle ; Blaze ; Cinnamon ; Root ; Wren ; Wood ; Whistle ; Flutter ; Fog
New Canon Suffixes: -beam ; -haze
New Potential Prefixes: Stream

Prefixes are divided into categories by what the names are based on; colors, animals, etc. All prefixes listed within the categories are in alphabetical order. Some may be listed in multiple categories; this is because the word can be used several different ways. Any that appear in multiple categories will be marked with an asterisk (*).

If you see anything I've miscategoried, please feel free to let me know!

--------> DEBATABLE CANON PARTS <--------

The name parts listed in this section are technically canon (in that they came from official Warriors sources), but they don't quite match up with the "normal" naming patterns we've seen throughout the series. To be more specific, it includes some of the "daylight warrior" names from SkyClan's Destiny, and a handful of parts from the "What's Your Warrior Name?" quiz on the official Warriors website.

If the name parts listed here are ever used in the main series books, I will move them to their respective Canon sections.

I've only included the daylight-warrior prefixes that I thought could be worked as a "real" warrior name in this section. I've added notes about why I think these names could work.

------------> POTENTIAL PARTS <------------

These name parts generally come from fan-created names I've seen, or from plants/animals/etc. that have been mentioned in the series but have not yet been used for Clan names. Though not canon at the moment, they do fit in with the naming patterns we've seen throughout the main series so I feel they have the potential to be used in the future.

If anyone has suggestions for potential name parts, I'd love to hear them! ^_^ As long as they fit with the canon name patterns, I'll add them to this list.

If any of the name parts listed here are ever used for Clan cats in the books, I will move them to their respective canon sections.

NOTE: A handful of these (such as Onion and Barley) actually HAVE been used in canon character names. However, I've put them in this section because they were either not used for Clan cats, or were used before "modern times".

Alrighty, the following in your potential parts are used in the series, so I figured I'd give you a bit of a hand (er, paw). Alternatively, you can also use this page on the wiki (my idea, based on what you started a long time ago!). Anyways, here we go!

Doe is used for a female name Doespring.
Pidgeon is used, although it's spelled Pigeon in the books, for an apprentice named Pigeonpaw.
Stag is used for a male named Stagleap.
Juniper is used for an apprentice named Juniperpaw.
-stalk is used for Ryestalk.

We also have some new ones too! I apologize if these are already mentioned.
Alder is used for Alderpaw
Yarrow is used for Yarrowpaw.

Puddle is now used as prefix for Puddlekit
Sleek is now used for an apprentice named Sleekpaw.
Wasp is used for Wasptail.
Slate is used for Slatekit.
Slight is used for Slightfoot.
Heron is used for Heronwing.

basically there's a lot of new ones come the newer books but those are ones off the top of my head that I can find for you.

@Squirrelypaws, I don't know if you want to count this or not, since it was just a preview for The Apprentice's Quest and could be changed in the future, but there's a kit whose name is Dandelionkit. ^^

Anyway; it looks like Violet has been used as a prefix in AVoS #1/#2, so moving that from Potential to Canon. Any more that I've missed?

Not sure if you have these, but Ravenpaw's Farewell introduced the following prefixes:

Riley - an apprentice named Rileypaw
Bella - an apprentice named Bellapaw
Parsley - an apprentice named Parsleypaw

There's also a new suffix:
-fern - a warrior named Firefern

There wasn't much of any changes with The Apprentice's Quest that I've seen so far...aside from a couple name changes, but those parts are already listed here. Although I'll be sure to keep my eyes out once I get the book.

A couple new prefixes in Thunder and Shadow! :) We have:

Cypress
Wave
Whorl

All three have been added to the Canon Prefixes list. I think that's all of them; if I missed any, please let me know!

A couple new ones from Vicky's Facebook!

These were actually posted by Su Susann, who I gather is a Warriors editor helping Vicky with the FB questions? Anyway, Su has apparently gone through and given names, descriptions, and details to some of the unnamed kits we've seen throughout the series. Vicky approved what she's come up with and says they can be taken as canon. Only a few have been posted so far, but almost all of them are new prefixes. We have:

Lynx
Swamp
Elder
Tulip
